I’ve been very introspective lately, perhaps more than usual. I suppose this is natural, I’m getting older and wondering more about the world than I ever have. I have a natural curiosity, and love learning. I’m hoping for the best—for all of us. None of us have a crystal ball, we don’t know what’s going to happen later today, let alone tomorrow, but it’s not all gloom and doom my dears. I’m actually excited, I’m wondering what adventures are yet to unfold. Do you remember being a kid, when you were excited about your upcoming birthday? You couldn’t wait! Are you excited about your next birthday? Perhaps you should be as the alternative isn’t so rosy. Every new day should be a celebration, we’re still here. So I’m proposing a journey to bliss for each and every one of us.
Care To Join Me?
Many of us are busy taking care of people—aging parents, children, a significant other, someone with medical issues, or perhaps something else. It’s easy to lose sight of what makes you happy. Don’t feel bad, this is natural when you’re used to taking care of other people. It’s time to look inside, dig deep, and think about what makes you happy.
When I was younger, I had a lot of lofty ideas about my life and what I thought was important. It’s funny how we change, many events I wanted came true, but didn’t necessarily make me happy. I suppose this is true for many of us, time waits for no one. Now I have a different idea of what makes me happy. What about you? If you don’t know that’s ok, it’s never too late.
Let’s Make A Splash
Spending time with people I enjoy is one of the best things in life. It doesn’t matter if you have a big or small family, this includes friends. We don’t get to pick our family, but we certainly choose our friends. Pick up the phone and call someone you care about, make a plan to get together as soon as possible.
Loving What You Do
I love my work as an interior designer. Chicago is an amazing place to live and work. I suppose I’m biased since I was born and raised here. Each day is a mystery, my projects are constantly evolving, sometimes things happen we could never anticipate. I never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, it’s never boring. I find it extremely gratifying to see my clients evolve. Each one of us is on our own journey. It’s amazing to have a front row seat in my client’s lives. I’m thrilled to help them when they get a new home, relocate to another state, upsize/downsize, plan a renovation or second home. I consider myself blessed to work with clients I adore.
The Passion of Learning
I’m in love with life, and have a deep passion for learning. I laugh now thinking back when I was younger, I thought I knew everything. It’s quite sobering to find out how little we know. I’m mesmerized by reading, learning about a new artist or musician, hearing a song I’ve never heard or watching a movie I’ve never seen before. Let us not forget, there’s so much to gain by actually listening to each other. The next time you’re in a hurry, take a few extra minutes to listen to that person telling you a story about their past. You won’t regret it.
Don’t Forget The F Word
F is for FUN, try new things. Travel if you can, you can go alone too, no excuses. God only knows what kind of adventures you could get into! Take up flower arranging or something you’ve always wanted to learn like piano or Italian. Learn how to cook a certain cuisine you love to eat. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Treat yourself to a designer—redo that room once and for all. Don’t forget about the car or other special thing you’ve always wanted. Have some fun, this isn’t a dress rehearsal after all. Even if you’re not good at something, give it a try and see if you like it. What’s the worst thing that can happen? At least you can say you tried it once!
Get out there, don’t be afraid or look back, just keep moving forward. I can’t wait to hear what adventures you’re going to embark on. I’m so excited for you!
I invite you to find your bliss, xo-
